In the case when Study (D-2) qualification holders need to continue staying due to the paper preparation, it is possible to extend the period of stay up to 2 years (Master’s Course: 1 year) after completing the regular process. An advisor recommendation, documents proving coverage of staying expenses, and certificate of personal reference are required. If the student preparing the paper fails to pass the paper examination in spite of his normal efforts and he needs more than 2 years (MA: 1 year) so as to continue to prepare papers related to the inevitable case, recommendations from the advisor containing detailed reasons, like process and schedule on the paper, can make it possible to extend the permit.

You should report a moving-in notification to the place you stay, such as local immigration office, city hall, county office, or ward office within 14 days from the date of moving in.

Foreigners who want to stay more than 91 days in the Republic of Korea must register for foreign registration in the local immigration office or branch, city hall, county office, or ward office within 90 days from the date of entering

According to Immigration Laws, the reasons for reissuing an alien registration card are as follows.
- When the alien registration card lost or missing
- When the alien registration card was worn out, and is therefore disabled
- When there is lack of space to be filled with requirements
- When alien registration information (name, gender , date of birth, or nationality) have changed
You should make a request within 14 days from the date when the reasons for reissuance occur. Required documents are your passport, reissuance application of alien registration card, documents about the reasons for reissuance, a photo, and a 20,000 won fee. Please go to the nearest immigration office for issuance.

Reasons for returning an alien registration card are as follows.
-When you are completely leaving
-within 14 days from the date of changing nationality, a responsible person such as the applicant, spouse, parent, a person through application for authorization, etc. must return alien registration card with the proof of Korean citizenship and loss of foreign citizenship.
- In case of the death of the person him/herself, within 14 days from the date of knowing the death or within 30 days from the date of the death, a responsible person such as spouse, parent, a person through application for authorization, the owner or manager of the property where the person died must return documents which can prove the death along with the alien registration card.

You can leave and re-enter Korea once with the maximum period of one year within the expiration period indicated on your alien registration card.

* If you stay abroad for more than a year during the period, you must receive an approval
for re-entering Korea from the local immigration center.

A passport, an alien registration card, commission: 50,000 won, an application form

* If you have the F-4 visa (for Korean residents living abroad), you can leave and
re-enter Korea freely within the expiration period regardless of the number of trips.

* If you have the F-5 visa (for permanent residence), you must re-enter Korea within two years
after leaving the country. (There is no separate application process for re-entering Korea.)
If you do not re-enter Korea within two years, your right of permanent residence will be terminated.

① The employee who works for more than 80% of the one-year period has 15 days for a paid vacation.

② After finishing the first year of employment, an employee can have 15 days for a paid vacation including holidays. If the employee has already used his or her holidays within the first year of employment, the number of holidays will be subtracted from 15 days.
